Happy Spring

A new post.. mostly because I'm tired of the old one that always pops up. Things are looking green around here, and even a few red and yellow flowers are blooming in our front yard. We are lucky to have a south facing front lawn and boy do we get a lot of sunshine. Sometimes in the winter I'd have my front door open because the heat from the sun would warm up the little entry-way. I'm sure come summertime I'll be roasting by the sun, but for now we love it.

Easter was great this year. Like every holiday, the kids get lots of candy (thank you sweet toothed father), and they forget about it and I end up eating it everytime I walk past the basket sitting on the kitchen counter. Can't wait till it's gone! I made the kids a little homemade gift for their baskets this year. Thanks to the Black Friday Thanksgiving Sale last November, I got litterally a mountain of felt for a pretty good price. My first project was a felt playhouse.. and a quiet book for church. That was Christmas. For Valentines day they both got felt superhero capes. For Easter they both got felt Mr. Potato head/Monster head with interchangeable parts. What can I saw, felt is my thing. No raw edges, just cut and good to go. However, I have been improving my sewing skills as of late.. two purses, several aprons and some darling skirts for Leah. It's generally what I do when Ben is gone. The sewing machine clutters the kitchen/dining area, then before he gets home it's a mad dash to pick things up. My new favorite store is hobby lobby.. love their fabric, it's the hardest part of the project, picking the fabric out.

We have about 40 different projects going on at our house.. our master bathroom has been tiled, no grout.. can't wait for the double shower:).. the kitchen is currently undergoing a facelift and has sheetrock hung, no mud.. and molding up, no paint. and the laundry room is nearly complete, minus the countertops. as always, purchasing all the supplies needed to complete the fixer uppers sometimes slows things down. darn money.. i have a personal love/hate relationship with it. this list of projects doesn't even include the outside projects.. i have some serious learning to do when it comes to yard work.. but my kids are great ages to just entertain themselves outside . give Leah some sidewalk chalk and she's thrilled, and Noah has now mastered his Christmas gift.. the bike. I'm so proud. we are planning a garden, moving a shed and replanting some sod. I can hardly wait to see the blossoms sprout from my peach tree. It'll be a joy to look outside to see them each morning.

The kids are kept mostly busy by teasing each other.. it's horrible, really. On top of my list is to find a photographer to get some portraits of their sweetness.. life is moving too fast and I want to capture it. ...

no pictures. mostly because for some reason our computer is running as slow as tar and I have not the patience it requires to download and wait.. and noah has now watched his third episode of tv this morning.. things like this make me feel guilty. it's time to turn off the computer, log out of facebook and be the mom. .. hopefully the weather will cooperate for a park day. we've got the whole day to ourselves.. ben's at work, piano class is cancelled for the day.. no agenda. love days like these!

Nice to see an update! We should get together and do a felt project. I have a huge box of it as well!

You guys sound like us :) Maybe not as many projects as you guys, although, Jaran would love it if we did. But ya, we're getting our garden up and going, and would love to get our kitchen remodel totally finished up with new countertops, but why is that money always gets in the way, darn it. I want to hear more about your felt projects. I would love to make a quiet book, etc. You're so crafty and creative, you need to share :)
In answer to your comment on my blog, ya we are going to Oahu. yipee! And our kids are staying at my parents'. I know I'll miss them and that's going to be hard! We never do this! Anyway, what tips would you share on visiting Oahu?
