some alone time

I changed the picture of our blog.. it will probably happen quite often, I like changes. If I could figure out how to do any other fancy things, it'll continue to look differently, but for now, just a new picture:). Ben and Noah are out together since yesterday lunchtime. He took him to get some military business done, then spent the night at his parents home in Oakley. I had to teach piano lessons yesterday and had YW's, so I stayed home.. all by myself. I actually slept most of the night through, I woke up leisurely, stayed in my pajamas while I watched the morning news, then took a morning bath.. how often does that happen?? I even painted my fingernails and toenails yesterday, it's been awhile since I've done that. Needless to say though, I am missing Noah and Ben like crazy. It's crazy, I can't decide what I want to do... should I go to the grocery store, surf the internet, blog, .... I feel so unproductive to not take advantage of this free time, but at the same time I haven't done anything productive. I spent some time looking for cheap and easy dinner recipes... I haven't been the best at preparing dinners around here, so I'd like to make more of an effort now. I like recipes which I can buy most of the ingredients ahead of time, either have them in the freezer or pantry, then pull them out when I'm ready to cook.. I'm pretty unpredictable at stopping by the grocery store, and usually end up eating the pantry soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I guess that means we don't eat a lot of fresh veggis and fruits.. which is not good... well, anyway, if you have any good recipes, send them along.. and i'm talking easy, few pantry ingredient type recipes.

I second that! That is the most precious picture ever! I LOVE it, and as of recipes, I think I have a few simple ones because I am ALL about simple, I will get back to you...

I LOVE your new picture!! Wow! That's awesome!! Can you take some of us?!?! Here's a recipe for you by the way, my friend brought us a meal recently, so this recipe popped into my mind when I read your blog. It's really yummy and would be good in a stir fry too.

4-6 breasts of chicken
1 TB cornstarch
1 TB water
1/2 C sugar
1/4 C soy sauce
1/4 C vinegar
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp ginger

Combine all ingredients (except chicken) in a small saucepan. Cook until it thickens. ( I usually just cook it until it is combined and boils for a minute.) Pour over chicken and cook for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Hey Camille! I saw your blog on Ashley's. I love that picture on your header too! Haven't seen you guys in a while... we should all get together soon! And I think its a good thing that you didn't do anything productive while the boys are away... its not like a mom usually gets any time to herself to do what she wants! I hear you on the easy quick recipes! I've gotta few, we should trade!

I'll email you some recipes (hopefully...) but here's my favorite thing to do: stick chicken or pork in the crockpot with BBQ sauce (I buy the cheapest Kraft stuff), cook all day, and serve over rice (made easy in the rice cooker) with some steamed veggies or fruit on the side. So easy and so yummy! I've been on a cooking slump lately too.
