we're melting

...but still having fun. Last week we headed out to escape the heat. Our first camping trip of the year. Lets be real here, I don't love to camp. I love the fires, the camp food, the stars, the peaceful nights. I don't love the dirt everywhere, the portapotties, the mosquitos, the packing and unpacking, and the constant effort to keep Leah from eating the dirt. But camping is something that Ben really loves to do, and we want Noah to have experiences camping together as a family. I told Ben that my enjoyment of camping would probably increase with the amount of money we spent on camping gear... for example, a trailor.. would love camping if we had a trailor. We both agreed that right now we won't splurge for the trailor, we'll just rough it for a night or two. We did have a great time though, and I slept pretty well.. thanks to Ben who packed a foam mattress for me and gave me the most warm/comfiest sleepingbag. We did have to split up into tents; the boys tent and the girls tent, but Leah was up only once. For the most part, everything was successfull.

Noah really is the sweest boy in the whole world. He's a trooper, making it the entire 1.3 mile hike. Besides that I think he is the cutest kid on the planet.

We camped at Sunrise campground, so we were within a short walk to the lookout over bear lake. beautiful.!!

Here's Leah enjoying the mustard packets for dinner... no hot dogs for her, just mustard.:)

The hike was a highlight for me. I really do love getting out and exploring nature. Both Ben and I agreed there are so many really cool places in Logan canyon that we have never been to. We really liked this Limber Pine trail.
And Leah is really good in the backpack.. much better than a stroller. A good investment for us.. now that both kids have liked riding in it.

You're a real trooper - I absolutely despise camping! I think that mostly I just hate being dirty and that's the epitome of uncleanliness as far as I'm concerned. But I usually tag along with the rest of the family once every couple of years - when I've forgotten how much I dislike it. Looks like you all had a great time, and more importantly, looks like the kids had a blast!

Oh I love the Limber Pine trail too, although it's been years since I've been up there!

your amazing. to camp in a tent when you don't even like camping. I don't like it but rusty does, we have gone a few times but I did talk him into a camper. it is small but it is nice to have a bathroom and a heater for when it's cold. your kids are so cute. i hope you are enjoying your new home?
