I wish I had a video, but have you ever seen a child who only scoots on their bum.. we call it a monkey scoot. When Noah was about 11 months old, he learned to scoot on his bum, and never learned to crawl. He got really fast, and people would comment they had never seen a child move around like that.. what a proud momma, actually I was a worried momma, people would tell me he would be so delayed because he never learned to crawl and that someday he would have to learn to crawl. Well, long story short, he can walk and crawl and he's fine. Well, like brother like sister.. Leah has now mastered the bum scoot.. no crawling, just bum scooting.. hm, why do both my kids only bum scoot?? she is turning one next week, and most one year olds have been crawling for months, and are real close to walking. she won't even put her feet down. .. we do tummy time... I put treats inches away from her reach to make her get moving.. nope, the prefered method of moving is bum scooting. I'm pretty sure both Ben and I learned to crawl when we were babies.. it's quite odd. So far they are very much alike in a lot of ways.
Anyway, they are both good kids. I can hardly wait for her birthday party.. I'll post some pictures.. but poor girl has an ear infection. i hate those things, you just never know if they have one or not, and you just feel so bad when they are sick.:(

Watching Noah scoot around on his bum was definately cute! And I'm glad he's not delayed or anything from not crawling. I probably wouldn't worry too much about Leah either. How funny that she is doing it too now! All kids are different. Addy walked on her first birthday and Carter just started, at 14 months. She hardly rolled, and he rolled around like crazy, etc, etc. It was fun to see you for a sec at baby animal days. Call if you're ever in the area.
I would not worry! kids are always so different, Dax walked and crawled SO early but didnt talk forever! I was SO worried, Now Dax really will never be quiet. Corban did the same, and still is slow on the talking part. Thats what gives them personality, I think your kids are so darn cute, And I bet that others do it to; :) I love that they both do it to be honest. I bet she will be walking before you know it. I really cant believe she is going to be one already, where did the time go!
I can't believe she is almost 1! That is so crazy!!! I wouldn't worry about the bum scoot. Every kid is so different and they have their own time lines. Just enjoy the uniqueness (is that a word?) of the bum scoot!
Mommyhood! Worrying about when they're sick, if they're developing, eating, sleeping right... It never ends! But good thing there is so much fun, laughter and joy in there too:) I guess you heard by now not to worry;) So cute that they're both doing it! (Maybe you should check with the grandparents - did one of you do that when you were little??? wink, wink...) Hope we get to see you sometime soon and say hi to those cute kids!
we're excited to see you guys (twice!) this week. when you have a sec i need to get your recipe for tiny spicy chicken (you made it up at himmeldalen once?) and cafe rio rice.
we'll see you soon.
All kids are different and when you see them do something odd, you're always wondering: "Is that normal?" Truth is that as long as they learn to get around, that's the important thing, how they do it isn't so important - at least that's what my pediatrician told me when Zach wasn't crawling at 1. Don't fret, Noah learned to crawl and walk and Leah will do the same - it's just funny to realize how much alike they are in the time before then with the bum scoot!
That is funny that Leah does the bum scoot too! Don't worry though, Norah didn't walk until she was 17 months old. Other children her age had been walking many months before her. I was a worried mom too, but she started walking and seems to be developing just fine. All kids do things their own way in their own time. What a cute girl Leah is!
