I do this all the time. Especially while Ben is gone. He's currently in Palm Springs, staying at a nice resort, probably sitting by the pool right now. I'm home with the kids. Wish I were with him, but it's hard sometimes with two kids.. both finding a willing person to watch them at last minutes notice so that I can tag along, and trying to bring them along.. especially by myself. One trip to the bathroom for Noah while holding Leah is just too much for me. So for now this is what I do.. I think of places I want to go and research them on the internet.. it's usually somewhere different, but then there are the top favorites that are on my list. So I'll share them with you now:
1. San Fransisco to see WICKED.. I'm dying to go, I hope we can make it sometime next month:)
2. Backpacking in one of the most beautiful places in the world.. the NaPali coastline of Kauai.
3. walking around the coastline of North Carolina, and visiting all the old houses that I love to read about in Nicholaus Sparks' books.. especially the Notebook.
4. an exotic vacation to Costa Rica or maybe even Peru.. we just got the Adventure magazine and it had an entire article on hiking Machu Picchu. I probably couldn't make it, but what a neat experience.
5. riding bikes around a laid back coastal city somewhere..
so can you tell I'm in need of an adult only getaway.. kids are great, but at some point you just need a minute to not worry about naptimes, potty treats, snotty noses, hurt knees that keep hurting for weeks, and water that isn't too cold to drink. I'm sure I'm not alone in these type of feelings, I just need to make a plan and make it happen.. what's your vote. where would you want to go??

ANYWHERE! I have only ever gone on a date..like dinner and a movie, without kids. I'm dying to get away, I bet it's divine!
I love this idea! Maybe I'll find a place, plan the whole trip sight seeing and all and by the time I'm done planning it I'll be too exhausted to go anyway! :) I agree though, it's so hard to travel with kids. But I think once I got somewhere without Simon I would find myself saying "Simon would love this!" or "I wonder what Simon is doing right now." You just can't win!
Hope you don't mind if I sneak a peek at your blog! After watching 20 minutes of some travel show tonight, I want to go to Greece. Plus the Mama Mia movie doesn't help with the desire to go to a gorgeous coastal town in Greece!
We will go any of those places with you! I thought you were going to palm springs, sorry it didn't work out :(
Kauai without question! I've been twice but I want to take Jared so bad. There just isn't anything like it!
Amen! I want to go to all those places too! I would love to have tons of free time and lots of money to go a million places! I think we think alike because they all sound amazing!
You can leave your kids with me anytime! And I'd love to go to Fiji. I hear it's beautiful!
